Above all, expect to be treated with the utmost care and respect. Our goal is to make the patient feel as comfortable as possible while performing all aspects of your dental procedures.
What to Expect On Your First Visit
We like to perform a very thorough initial examination, which will take from one to one-and-a-half hours. We ask that you complete a medical history form , and we will ask you questions about your dental history and home care habits. We try to take some time to get to know you during this visit, so that we can personalize our care to your individual needs. During this examination we will take any necessary x-rays. If you will need any crowns or other extensive work, we will also take impressions of your teeth. When you are a new patient, we will ordinarily schedule your cleaning after we have done your examination. We do this because we don't clean everyone's teeth the same way. If there is gum disease present, for example, we will schedule you for a longer cleaning. Also, because we take so much time with the initial examination, it would be a very lengthy appointment if we added the cleaning. After you have set up a schedule of return preventive visits, we will then do your examination, any necessary x-rays, and your cleaning in the same visit.
Comfort
Your comfort during dental treatment is a high priority with us. There are a number of techniques that we use to achieve this goal. If this is a concern of yours, bring it up with us and we're sure we can help you.
Music Of Your Choice
We will provide music of your choice in each room. Many people find that this technique reduces the anxiety that they feel during dental work.
Nitrous Oxide Gas
Nitrous oxide gas is an excellent mild relaxant that is frequently used for dental treatment. The absence of aftereffects makes it very convenient for people who need to leave right after their appointment and drive home or back to work. We have nitrous oxide available in our office for a small charge. There are also other more potent sedation techniques that we can use. Ask us about them.
So, if you're looking for sympathetic, gentle treatment, our office is the place to come. We offer a full range of options to help you be comfortable:
