Let’s face it. The dental office can be a scary place for many people. In fact, recent studies have shown that nearly 30% of Americans avoid dental treatment because of fear. At Smiles by Lynch, we’re trying to do something about it. We understand your reluctance because we have several recovering ‘dental-phobics’ on our team and will do everything we can to make your visit easier for you.
We use a multitude of tools and techniques from the traditional to the hi-tech to make your treatment as comfortable as we can.

Traditional
Calmly talking with the patient and thoroughly explaining everything goes a long way in easing dental anxiety for many. We understand what you are feeling and sincerely want to help. Your appointment time is set aside specifically for you to insure we won’t be rushed. We will gladly hold your hand and talk you through your procedure if you would like. You can relax on one of our ultra-comfortable tempurpedic chair pads or relieve some tension with our heated massage pads. We also use scented candles and eye masks that our patients just love.
Last, but obviously not least, we offer tradition nitrous oxide (laughing gas) to ease you through your visit with a smile.
Most of all, we understand…we listen…and we care.
Hi Tech
Comfort and hi-tech don’t necessarily go hand-in-hand. But at Smiles by Lynch we have found ways to employ the latest technologies to make your visit more comfortable.
Dental lasers, for example, are great for those of us with dental anxiety. In many cases, cavities can be restored without the need for a shot or a drill. Our office was among the first in the southeast and one of the few in the area today to use lasers.
Improved diagnosis through enhanced digital x-rays and laser cavity detection provides for earlier diagnosis and allows for minimally invasive dentistry. This allows us to correct problems before they start to hurt.
Ultrasonic cavitrons and new prophy jets help us to complete your dental cleanings quicker, easier and more comfortably. Other new equipment and techniques, such as nickel titanium instruments, allow us to complete root canals in a single visit where it once took multiple appointments.

Sedation
For those of us that need a little more than hand holding and a calm voice, we offer oral conscious sedation. OCS is an extremely safe and reliable way for the apprehensive patient to have dental work done. Unlike general anesthesia, which requires needles and IV’s, OCS is accomplished simply by administering a pill. During sedation you will be extremely drowsy, but never be completely unconscious, which would require maintaining an airway. You will have less post operative discomfort and, best of all, little to no memory of the procedure at all. OCS is awesome!
